A loud shot cracked through the
dragon's roar, and the already reeling dragon's blood was spilled from a
fresh wound. Garadaine recognized the sound, and turned to see Gartgnar
firing his weapon from the entrance to the cave. Cassrien, too, was
firing her arrows at the beast, though the she-elf was having a bit more
trouble hurting the dragon. Trenial had stopped before the dragon,
raising his sword into the air and chanting a spell. Garadaine wasn't
sure what the paladin was up to, but as long as it helped the situation he
wasn't about to question it. Rillik did not miss the opportunity to
run out from under the dragon, and was quickly making his way to the forest
trail where Garadaine now stood. Masark, on the other hand, had already
reached the edge of the forest and was now making his way into it.
But to the dismay of all, Rillik
was not fast enough to escape the dragon's rage. With a single backhanded
swing, the dragon swept the ground behind the corsair, slapping him hard
from behind.
The blow was so swift and powerful
that Rillik instantly went airborne, easily clearing the tallest trees in
the forest, and traveling well beyond earshot. Garadaine gripped his
swords tightly, knowing his friend, if he had even survived the attack, would
not be in good shape when he found him.
