Upon seeing what the dragon had
done to Rillik, Trenial stopped chanting his spell and charged the beast.
But as the dragon brought it's hand up to follow through in the attack
against Rillik, it then swung the same arm down and at the paladin. It
had been such a quick change in direction and such a quick attack that Trenial
did not even have the time to fully raise his shield to defend himself before
the dragon's hand made contact with him.
Trenial's body flew backward with
great force, sending him flying into Gartgnar and Cassrien, knocking them
down and sending the three further into he cave. All three warriors
gave out a painful gasp as they hit the ground, causing a chill to bolt down
Garadaine's spine. The prince ran to aid his friends, but his heart
sank as he hear the familiar sound of the dragon inhaling, filling its lungs
full of air and reading itself for its most devastating attack.
Garadaine called out to his comrades,
but his words were totally drowned out by the sound of dragon's fire. For
a third time, the young dragon filled the cave with its fiery breath, but
this time there was no escape. The dragon was firing at point-blank
range, and Garadaine knew there was no defense against it. As the flames
quickly disappated, Garadaine could see the glowing hot stones within the
temple, but not a trace of his companions. The three had been completely
reduced to nothing. Garadaine winced, holding back his sorrow as best
he could, trying to think of a way to avenge his fallen comrades.
