About the Dragon

The Head

Tel'Karak's head is based on the general crocodilian skull shape.  It starts 4 studs wide and expands to 10.  The lower jaw is inverted and attached using internal click hinges.  (Sorry, no picture)  The jaw hinges are each two 2x1 click hinges connected by a 1x4 double sided click hinge in a flattened 'z' formation.  This gives the dragon realistic jaw movement.

The dragon's jaw opens and closes effortlessly, and her 24 shining silver teeth are almost totally hidden when closed.  They are connected to the head via a specialized method.  By alternating 1x1 plate with claw grips and 1x1 plates on top of 2x4 bricks, and thanks to the inverted jaw, the teeth are hidden inside the natural gap inside the bricks.  The fit isn't 100% perfect however, some of the teeth must be rotated so that they do not hit one another.

Tel'Karak's eyes are nothing more than minifig helms.  In fact the original minifig heads are used to hold the helms in place, as well as certain pinning plates and bricks.  In the future I may show an alternate form of the eyes that allow the eyes to blink.
