About the Dragon

The Neck and Tail

To give you a baring as to which part of the dragon this is, this is the underside of the end of the tail.  Each swivel joint of the dragon is held fast by surrounding bricks and two plates on the top and bottom.  However, with all the weight involved in the dragon, normal technic pins slipped out of their bricks.  I killed two birds with one stone on this one.  By pushing an object into the hole inside the technic pin, I was able to expand the pin, holding it's plastic against the walls of the brick that contained it.  This prevented the pin from slipping out, but it also strengthened the pin.  The piece moved inside the pin caused the pin, in essence, to become a solid piece of plastic and thus could support much more weight than usual.

The neck and tail of the dragon are alternating series of swivel and click hinge joints, allowing for a total range of movement.  By alternating swivel joints using 1x1 and 1x2 technic bricks, I was able to taper the tail by 1 stud at a time, as opposed to studs.  This gives the tail a much more 'natural' effect.  This is the solution to the problem Pawel Nazarewicz came across with War.
