The Dire Hawk

Made in the heyday of the elven kingdoms, The Dire Hawk is a very advanced craft.  Capable of flight, this ship can cross distances once thought impossible by any means of transportation.

Her hull is made entirely from the root wood of the float wood oak trees found in abundance in the Venorian forest.  Float wood, when it comes in contact with an activation stone, will as the name implies, float.  This ship is powered by an enormous activation stone, shielded and channeled evenly through the ship using an ingenious series of tubes and pipes.  Forward thrust is created when the ship is made heavier in the front, causing it to 'fall' forward.  Also, the energies of the activation stone can be shot through the ship, also causing a forward creeping motion.  By balancing the falling motion and creeping with the wings upward lift, forward motion is achieved.  Though she cannot travel as fast as most magical conveyances, she can run circles around any sailing vessel.

The ship has two legs attached to its stern, and on the bow has one.  These legs are lowered during landing, allowing the ship to land almost anywhere.  After landing, if the terrain permits, the ship is then lowered onto its hull to conserve energy and to make it easier to disembark.  The forward arm can also be used as a tow arm to tackle almost any job.
