The Deep Blue Sea
an illustrated tale
page 3

As they made their way deeper and deeper into the underwater cave, a small glow of light began to become visible in the distance.  As they approached closer, it looked to be a pool of water above them.
"This must be the entrance to the cave that Formeathan talked about," Greylen whispered.
"It certainly looks like it," Garalt replied in a low voice, "It doesn't look too bright in there, I hope we'll be able to see if we have to defend ourselves."
"Well, you have your new shield at least," Greylen said, looking up at the almost totally still water's surface above them.
"So you think you can get us through there?"
"The magic here seems to be actually very simple.  I don't know if such a great dragon such as Formeathan described would have ANY problems getting through.  In fact, I think we'd be able to pass right through the magical barrier."
"Well, uhh... I guess... take us up, Greylen," Garalt sighed uneasily.  Greylen nodded.
The bubble began to rise, and as it broke the water's surface above them, it began to disappear, until the two men were standing on the edge of the pool in the darkness.

Suddenly a light shown down upon the two knights, blinding them.  Garalt raised his shield quickly and readied his sword, trying to shield his eyes enough from the light to see it's source.  Garalt's eyes burned from the strength of the light, even with his eyes shut, it was if they were open.

"WHO ENTERS THIS PLACE??" a booming voice called out.  Garalt and Greylen winced in pain as it pierced their skulls.  Garalt could swear he was not only hearing the voice with his ears, but also inside his mind at the same time.  It was too painful to bare.  Garalt slowly looked up from behind his shield and called out to the light.
"We seek the great dragon Tempi Frei," Garalt addressed the light.
"AND WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM TEMPI FREI??" the voice called out once more.  Once again Garalt and Greylen winced in pain at the sound.
"We seek to release the great dragon and gain her aid," Garalt said again, lowering his shield altogether.
