"Greetings travelers!" King Rurik addressed them all, "I am King Rurik." "Greetings MiLord," Garalt bowed, "I am Sir Garalt of the Lion's Crest, Knight of the land of Ikros. I'm afraid we've come to your land by accident." "By accident?" Rurik questioned, pondering the odd visitors in his land. "Yes, I'm afraid we were being teleported to a land called Blut'Ader, and ended up here." "I do not know of any such place, for that I am sorry. However you are welcome to stay with us as long as you wish, on one condition of course." "What condition is that, good Sir?" Drakon asked. "In my lands, I'm afraid we do not allow weapons in the cities. If you plan to stay, I will insist that you hand over your weapons to my knights. I assure you that we will return them to you when it is time for you to leave." Garalt and the others looked at each other, and they slowly nodded. "We shall do as your laws say, Sir," Garalt nodded. ![]() "Caelin," Charkoti addressed the knight, "what's wrong?" "Look, over there..." he said, pointing at the eight warriors standing with the king. Charkoti frowned at the sight. She too knew that this could mean serious trouble. "Ahh, Caelin, Charkoti! Come, join us," King Rurik instructed. The two warriors looked at each other and then walked closer. "My liege," Caelin began, "I do not mean to sound impertinent, but how is it these warriors carry weapons in our streets?" "Ahh, yes," the king nodded, "I was about to have them hand over their weapons to our guard. They are on a long journey and have lost their way. I hope that our dear monk Baylun will have some answers for them." "You there," Caelin called over to a few guards standing a few yards off, "come take these weapons to the Knights' Quarters." The two guards saluted and walked over first to Garalt, who handed one of them his dark sword. As Garalt let go, the sword disappeared in a puff of smoke, startling the two guards. ![]() "I shall be taking my weapons to this 'Knights' Quarters directly," Drakon insisted. One of the guards took up Aylia's bow from her. "Very well," King Rurik nodded, "Caelin, Charkoti, would you please show these men to the Knights' Quarters so they may stow their weapons. When you have finished, feel free to show them around. In the mean time I shall take Garalt to meet with Baylun." "Aye, Sire," Caelin saluted. Exchanging a glance with Charkoti, Caelin addressed the other visitors, "If you would all please come with me." "I'll keep Garalt company," Alyia smiled coyly. "And your name my dear?" King Rurik smiled at Alyia. "Forgive me Sire, I am Princess Alyia of Ikros," she said, bowing slightly. "A warrior princess?" King Rurik said shaking his head, "Just what I need, another one..." King Rurik chuckled, motioning for Garalt and Alyia to follow him. Garalt waved at the other six as they walked off. ![]() "Baylun, we've had some unexpected guests appear to us today. They've lost their way to... what was it called again?" "Blut'Ader," Garalt said to Baylun. Baylun brought his hand to his chin and rubbed it a bit, thinking. "I'm afraid I don't know of any place called that... what was it that you are looking for there? That might tell us something." "We are looking to defeat a dreadful beast that has been laying waste to our land. Her name is Tel'Karak Zrahl, and we seek the help of her brother Formeathan." Baylun stood motionless in the doorway of the seminary, looking out as if into nothing. His mind was racing after hearing those two names. "I've heard those names before... yes, I've read them." Baylum said finally. "Well I haven't," the king said, "who are these beasts?" "Come inside, I will search for the scroll that mentions them." Back to the Chronicles of Ikros
