The Siege
of Halcyon Castle
an illustrated tale
page 2
Then Ethelred, standing there so silent before, began
to chant softly. As he chanted, he slowly grew louder and louder,
until two of his cohorts appeared behind him in a puff of thick smoke.
He continued chanting, louder and louder.
And as he chanted, four more of his soldiers appeared,
fully armed and riding their steeds of evil. The horses whinnied
and rose up in anticipation of the battle to come. It seemed Ethelred
had come ready to fight.
Upon seeing the force appearing in front of them,
the castle guards standing nearby began to run for their lives up to the
castle. Garalt was completely frozen in fear at the sight of the
newest guests to the fray. He could see the demonic horsemen readying
their weapons for the slaughter that would most likely occour in the next
few minutes. His mind began to race at the possibilities of what
would happen to him. His thoughts were broken by a hard slap on his
shoulder and a familiar voice thundering in his ears.
"Time to go knight!" Kullvox ordered. Garalt
wavered, surprised by the words. Kullvox fumbled to get the young
knight oriented in the right direction and pushed him toward the castle.
"Run for it boy, we don't have all day!" Kullvox
ordered again.
"What, we don't have time to smell the roses?" Garalt
quipped, running hard for the castle.
"Not now boy, just run!" Kullvox was obviously less
than amused. The two quickly followed the guards up to the castle's
drawbridge.
