Ulmerad, the Warrior King
an illustrated tale
page 2
"As for your friends, Sir knight, they are welcome to
stay here as my guests or travel with you to Laquos."
"Greylen," Garalt turned to face his companion, "Ikros
Capitol has a great library, perhaps you could learn more about the Tower
of Olyian there."
"Aye," Kullvox added, "quick thinking young knight.
Indeed, our library is extensive."
"Then I shall stay here, if it pleases Her Majesty,"
Greylen said, bowing toward Allamir. The Queen nodded slowly, smiling.
"Then I will stay as well," Demonclaw stepped forward,
"where Greylen goes, I follow."
"Garn, Moraine," Kullvox addressed the two paladins,
"this is an Ikrosian affair, and I cannot ask you to join. However,
since the main Ikros force is out with the King, I would ask of you to stay
here and protect the royal family."
"We would be honored to protect the Queen and Princess,"
Moraine bowed gracefully, "the Order of Huldrain is at your service, Queen
Allamir."
"I'm afraid I have not been introduced with you, good
Sir, who might you be?" Allamir smiled.
"I am Moraine, Patriarch of the Paladins of Karkos,
leader of the Order of Huldrain."
"Ahh, so Jerren has been overthrown then?" The
group nodded together. "I am honored by your presence, Patriarch of
the Order of Huldrain. Please treat my home as your own."
Moraine nodded and bowed, stepping back in approval.
Allamir motioned to her servants, and quickly they began showing the four
travelers to their temporary quarters. "Now, Sir Garalt,"
the Queen began, turning to the young knight, "I trust you wish to see my
daughter?"
"O..Only if Her Majesty wishes it," Garalt swallowed.
"She is waiting in her chambers for you. You may
visit her at any time, within reason of course. Kullvox, if you would
be so kind as to sit with me in the great hall and fill me in on everything
you've been through since I've returned."
Garalt bowed to his queen and quickly walked out of the
thrown room, followed by almost girlish laughter from the Queen. Garalt's
heart raced as he climbed the stairs to Alyia's chambers. As he came
to her door, Leena, Alyia's ever faithful made in waiting stopped him.
"The Queen told me to let you in," she said, pointing
her finger at him, "but you so much as look at her the wrong way and I'll
twist you in two!"
