    "My God..." Alyia whispered.
    "Prin... Alyia?" Garalt stuttered.
    "LOOK!  THERE!" Alyia shouted.
Pushing Kullvox and Garalt out of the way, Alyia began to run like a woman possessed to the three figures standing near one of the houses on the main cross road of the city.  Garalt looked to where she was running to see what he never thought he would.  It was Durall and his two comrades!  They had survived the siege of Halcyon!  The rest of the travelers ran after the princess.
"Well look what we have here..." Durall smiled, "Princess Alyia, Queen Allamir, greetings."
    "My father?  Is he alive?"
    "Aye, don't you know?"
"We've been walking for several days now," Allamir answered.
"Why, there were only three deaths at Halcyon, all soldiers.  Ethelred only destroyed the castle, not the life inside."
"WHAT?" Garalt nearly dropped his axe.
"In fact, Ethelred left almost right after you four did.  We ran into him on the way to the Capitol, but we cut through his lines and made it.  Now the King is scouring the country for you."
"Oh mother, this is wonderful!" Alyia said, tears were forming in her eyes.
"In fact, the King is half way to Corincia as we speak, we came in advance to see what we could find."
"We are in need of horses to ride to my husband," Allamir said slowly, "may we use your mounts?"
"Nay, I'm sorry mum, but we were paid to scout, not give up our horses.  They are our life's blood, I'm sorry, but we cannot give them up."
"Very well, thank you for the information.  Ride back to my husband and tell him we are safe, we will try to find mounts and meet him as quickly as we can."
"Very well, we shall as soon as we gather supplies."
After finding out the good news, Allamir and Alyia were more determined than ever to find some mounts to reach Ulmerad.  The four women went off to talk to Headmaster Gibben and see if he could help them, while the men were left to try to find mounts in the city itself.
"This is surprising news, is it not?" Kullvox said to his former student.
"Not really Kullvox.... somehow, I knew our King was alive."
The two knights turned just in time to see Garn running up to them, he seemed terrified.
