A thunderous sound blasted in from the north, followed
by a long, deep growl. Tempi Frei had teleported herself to the battlefield,
and Garalt knew she was well aware of what he was asking her to do. She
was far, over a mile away, but she was all too visible none the less. Her
body was surrounded by a great blue aura, and as she floated effortlessly
towards them, she slowly turned her head side to side to overlook the situation.
"I've come for you sister..." Tempi Frei said softly,
though it seemed to come from all around. She must have been projecting
her voice magically, thought Garalt. "The time of reckoning has come.
I've come to repay my debt to you."
"Four dragons?" Ulmerad shouted in the distance. Garalt
looked over his shoulder to his king to see him and the rest of the upper
level knights shocked and dismayed by the unfolding events.
"You know not what you are about to do, sister," Tel'Karak
Zrahl called out, trying to focus in on where the blue dragon was.
"I know all too well, sister. I know of it all,
I have known. Do not think you can fool me like you have our brothers,"
Tempi Frei projected once more, "But I will not allow you to go on any further,
I will stop you."
The blue dragon finally floated softly down to the ground
in a field about a quarter mile from the black dragon. Garalt was awed
by the grace and poise the blue dragon exhibited, it was as if this were a
formal event for her. Suddenly a voice entered his mind, it was soft,
but easily understood.
"Move out of the way," it said. Garalt could recognize
the voice of Tempi Frei, and he complied to her order, moving out from between
the black dragon and the blue.
"Now it ends..." Vildegraas groaned softly, watching
the blue dragon in the distance. Garalt could see the blue dragon's
mouth was gaped, and a small point of light was beginning to grow in the
her jaws. As it grew bigger and bigger, the air about the whole area
began to snap and swirl, Garalt could feel the hairs on his body beginning
to stand on end. Garalt had felt this sensation before, it was just
as if lighting was going to strike near by, except a much slower sensation.
As the ball of energy grew in the mouth of Tempi Frei, it began to
hum, or at least the sound it was making had become loud enough for Garalt
to hear from that distance. And it was getting louder. And as
it grew louder and larger, the light it gave off became more intense as well.
So intense, in fact, that it was slowly becoming brighter than the
sun overhead, removing the shadows beneath Garalt's feat and casting one
upon the green dragon behind him.
