The Jackal's Redemption
an illustrated tale
page 1

The gargantuan Venorian furiously roared at the sight before it, and slashed at its' side, cutting down a large tree effortlessly.  The thunderous sounds did not phase any of the enraged Venorians.
"They just keep getting uglier and uglier..." Garalt muttered to himself.
"Garn! Tundrock!  No matter what, our goal is the stone!" Garalt shouted, cutting down three Venorians in one blow, "Get that thing to the airship!"
"But what about you, boy?" Tundrock shouted above the frenzied Venorians.
"Don't worry about me, remember, the Princess is still out there!" Garalt swung his new dark blade again, taking down another Venorian, "Your job is to get her to safety!"
Garn and Tundrock began to lift the huge stone together, in spite of the advancing creatures.  Due to Tundrock's large size and Garn's paladin armor, the rock was no trouble for them to move.  The huge Venorian began to advance upon them, seeing the activation stone being moved.  Garalt and Drakon quickly got between the beast and the stone.
"Well boy, it's been a pleasure fighting at your side.  It is a pity I never got the chance to test your powers myself." Drakon said, swinging his sword back and forth pushing back the onslaught.
"You sound like you've accepted defeat," Garalt said with a smile, "I thought someone like you wouldn't lay down so easily!" Garalt swung his sword like the dragoon, holding off the Venorians just a little longer.
"Lay down?  Drakon the Whirlwind?!  HAH!  Just you watch me boy, they'll call me the devil's own in their grandchildren's stories!"
"I guess that would make me the devil!" Garalt swung his sword again, cutting another Venorian down, "I never figured you to be such a follower."
The two knights chuckled at their situation.  The Venorians kept pushing them farther and farther back. Garn and Tundrock were equally hard pressed, struggling to keep the stone from the viscious creatures clawing at them.
