Storm on the Horizon
an illustrated tale
page 3

Formeathan's eyes darted open with the flash of Greylen's magic.  Suddenly the four warriors found themselves staring down a stirring beast of immense power, and Garalt was beginning to wonder as to how wise of an action this all was.  Greylen was frozen in place, his whole body trembling before the dragon's gaze.  Garalt could hear the dust and dirt of centuries falling to the ground as the dragon began to move his body.  In the distance a shuffling noise could be heard, it must have been the dragon's tail, Garalt thought.  A low groan could be heard filling the cavern as the dragon began to reanimate.
As the dragon lifted himself from his bed of centuries, the beast began to open his mouth.  As he did so, lightning began to dance about his lips, lighting all around him.  Alyia cowered behind Garalt as Greylen crawled and clawed his way behind Demonclaw.  The lightning from the dragon was arcing over to the dragon's fingers and arms, over his head and down his neck.  The buzzing sound was intense, Garalt could feel his teeth vibrating and buzzing along with the noise.  Formeathan, the Stormbringer, was living up to his name.
But just as it had started, the lightning quickly died down into nothing.  The dragon had lifted his head up and was looking about, looking over his would be rescuers.  There was an awkward silence that filled the cave.  No more was there the sound of the dragon snoring, or the sound of him moving.  Not even the sound of moving air brushed by Garalt's ears.
"Who are you, whom have awakened me from my dormancy?" Formeathan began to say, slowly.  His voice was deep, and loud, Garalt could feel the vibrations from the beast in the pit of his stomach.  The dragon spoke well, as well he should, Garalt thought.  Garalt's eyes focused on the red dragon's mouth, filled with razor sharp and shining teeth.  In fact the very visage of the beast gave off the idea of power and ferocity.
"I can sense that you four do not alone hold the power to release me from such bondage.  Ahh..." Formeathan said, noticing Alyia, "I see the Bow of Zaan.  This is by no accident that you have released me, what is it that you seek?"
