Trapped and Bound
an illustrated tale
page 1

The airship began to spin totally out of control, throwing all its' occupants to the floor.  Garalt desperately tried to stay upright, grasping onto one of the forecastle's guardrails.  His face plate fell down with the jarring of the ship, partially blinding him temporarily.
"Captain!" Garalt called out, struggling to straighten his helmet, "Get the Dire Hawk under control!"
"I'm working on it!" the elf replied, calling out to his crew in his native tongue.  The other elves were furiously pulling at levers around the ship, desperately trying to right it.  The ship bounced about the side of the castle in it's deadly spin, knocking off bricks from the battlements.  Garalt looked up at the ledge where the platform where the ship had been moored, now twenty feet above him, and prayed that the turret that was shaking from the impacts wouldn't fall on them.
"That's got it!" the elf captain called out, Garalt looked looked about the spinning ship to find out what the elf was referring to.
Suddenly the ship darted out away from the castle, low to the ground.  It was an instantaneous recovery, which again threw everyone on board to the ground.  The Dire Hawk was making great speed now, flying level with the mountainous terrain that surrounded Ikros Capitol.
"Where's the dragon?!" Drakon called out.  All on board began to look about, searching for the evil beast.  The castle had become quiet, except for the few brave souls fighting the fires on the roof.  In fact, very little was happening anywhere around them.
"THERE!" Alyia called out, pointing behind them.
Directly behind the airship, Tel'Karak Zrahl was flying furiously to catch the craft.  The elf crewman at the helm turned the ship hard to the right to shake the beast, but the dragon banked along with them.
"She can beat us at speed," the elf captain called out to Garalt, "let's see if she can beat us at maneuvering..."
The airship banked left and right, using the terrain to help guide its path, but no matter where the ship went, the dark dragon was directly on the tail.  However, it seemed as though their plan was working to some extent.  The dragon, though able to match their every move, was unable to gain any distance with all the turning the ship was doing.
"At least the city is safe..." Garalt whispered to himself.
